Speech Pathologist

Laura is a speech pathologist from the western suburbs of Melbourne. She is passionate about providing high quality services to the children and families in her community. Laura utilises the most up to date evidence to inform her therapy, whilst always striving to keep therapy engaging and enjoyable for her clients. She has a calm, caring, and fun approach.

Laura has a strong sense that each child is unique in their own special way. She endeavours to work alongside families to form a thorough understanding of each child; celebrating their strengths, and working collaboratively to assist with their difficulties. Laura values parents as experts in their own children, and aims to empower them with strategies, techniques and training to further support each child and their individual needs.

Laura is experienced in working with children/teenagers with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), learning difficulties (e.g. dyslexia), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and intellectual disability (ID).

Laura has undergone additional training, including:

  • Hanen ‘It Takes Two to Talk’, parent training program for young children who are late to begin talking.
  • Social Thinking- We Thinkers, Nancy Tarshis. Training, for preschool and school-aged children with social emotional difficulties, including those with autism spectrum disorder.
  • Key Word Sign, the use of signs and gesture to aid and support language development and communication.
  • Sounds Write, an explicit, phonics program for struggling readers and spellers of all ages and ability.
  • ‘Learn to Play’, play-based therapy designed to develop pretend/imaginary play skills in children, including those with autism spectrum disorder.
  • Hanen ‘Teaching Tuning In’, practical strategies to promote theory of mind development for verbal children on the autism spectrum.
  • Hanen ‘Coaching parents in how to play’
  • Zones of Regulation and the Alert Program
